Tectonic Shifts

I’ve run a few blogs in my time, and every once in a while there’s a slump where I forget to post, or don’t have anything to post about, or I’m just too busy to try, or some combination of all three. December’s been quite a month, I tell you what.

I was recently promoted to Team Leader at my current job, a nonprofit that gives donated furniture to people transitioning from homelessness into housing. The promotion wasn’t expected, but I’m adapting as best I can. There’s a lot of transferrable skills between creative writing and team management. The first few weeks of work are a lot like a first draft: I got a rough idea of what’s going on, but if everything ends terribly then that’s just part of the learning curve until I flesh things out. After that, the serious outlining and refinement can occur.

With a promotion comes more money, which means I’ve got to stop buying PVC figures with all this spare change. My Ishtar and Jeanne finally came in around Christmastime, so that was cool. But with more money comes more responsibility. No more figures for a while.

Other than those developments, I’ve just got a lot on my plate recently. I don’t even play PS4 like I used to. I guess no one ever said adulting was easy. Here’s to a less stressful 2019!
