It’s been so long since I’ve blogged here that I should do a bit of an introduction, no?
My name is Nelson Elias Rolon. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, I enjoy writing science fiction stories. Well, I like writing fiction in general but gravitate towards sci-fi.
Case in point, my only publication to date is in FIYAH Magazine of Black Speculative Fiction. “Saudade“ follows Vida and Menino as they scramble to repair a shuttle and escape from Earth before a bounty hunter finds them. The story will also be published by Lightspeed Magazine this year.
I have a few projects cooking up, although picking one to flesh out and write for several months is always a challenge. Right now I’m outlining the sequel to “Saudade.” There’s also a Tenchi Muyo fanfic somewhere in the mix, and an anthology about a couple who owns a tabletop games shop. I do have a much bigger magnum opus in the works, but I’ve got to build the courage to show that to the world.
The only other interesting tidbit about me is that I recently became Technical Assistant for FIYAH Magazine, where I help maintain the website. A long time ago, back when I finished my Bachelors, I thought learning HTML, CSS, blogging, and web design would be a good idea. Turns out I was right.
Anyway, I’m happy to be part of the writing community.
